This tile was made by staining stoneware clay different colours and then inlaying them together to create a landscape design. After bisque firing, I decorated the tile using wax resist and cobalt oxide, with the resist burning off in the kiln to reveal the colours underneath. The piece was then glazed, and carefully mounted onto a woven backboard, then mounted in an oak frame made by Rabbet in Glasgow. 28 × 28cm.

Please note that the tile is very much a handmade piece and has natural slight variations in the surface texture depending on the oxides used for staining. I’ve photographed as best as I can.
